Professional singer/songwriter and session vocalist

THE LIFE OF TRIXIE
I feel mighty blessed to have grown up in the beautiful countryside of South West England. My lovely parents ensured that my two brothers and I had an excellent education and a childhood full of fantastic family memories.
I remember at eleven years of age, I began to sing along to my parents eclectic and extensive L.P’S; such as Ella Fitzgerald, Susan Vaughn, Julie London, Shirley Bassey, Ray Charles, Barbara Streisand, loving the Swing, Jazz and Blues of the time. I realised I had a gift and harmonies became my forte.
Also during that time, my Music/Drama teacher at school noticed I had a voice, and I was promptly made lead in all the school production plays and musicals. My Drama teacher Miss Laine, as I recall, encouraged me to study at R.A.D.A (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), I applied, auditioned and was accepted, but sadly never attended.
To have grown up during the 70’s & 80’S Glam/ Rock and Heavy Metal scene was amazing, there were so many brilliant bands: Black Sabbath; Motorhead; Led Zepplin; AC/DC; Deep Purple; Sensational Alex Harvey Band; Zappa; Lynyrd Skynrd; Eagles; Rush; Bad Company; Wishbone Ash; Crosby Stills ‘N’ Nash; America; Jethro Tull; Foreigner; Journey; Emerson Lake ‘n’ Palmer; Boston; Thin Lizzy; Steely Dan; and Yes. All of these artists heavily influenced my musical style. I would listen to all the Heavy Metal Bands with awe: Dio; Dokken; Winger; Badlands; Steelheart; Motley Crue; Van Halen; Extreme; Journey; Metallica; I could go on but the list is endless, I was hooked!
I enjoyed a varied employment history over the years to sustain my musical career; I was a Legal Secretary/Medical Secretary, Music Journalist, Model, Hackney Taxi Driver, and a Mini Bus Driver for SEN’s (Special Educational Needs for Children/Adults), but my first and only love has been singing, songwriting and performing.
Over the years I've found the ever present politics, ego’s, “musical differences”, lack of commitment and work ethic from fellow band members exasperating and exhausting. So I decided to pursue a solo career from 1992 to present day, performing my own songs at live gigs in the pubs and clubs of the South West of England, including: the Colston Hall, Bristol and Shaftsbury Theatre, London. I’ve appeared on various TV shows and my voice has been heard by Royalty in Clarence House. I’ve also been retained as a Session Musician.
Although never signed by a Record Label myself, it didn’t affect my sheer love of music, writing and performing to this day.
I have worked as a Home Care Service Provider for McKinnons Homecare, Chipping Sodbury; Smile Independent Living, Chipping Sodbury; Kensington Care, Bristol; Seraphim Home Care, Chipping Sodbury; and South Gloucestershire Council. I now provide full time care for my parents.
These days, I love to read; write songs and poetry; travel; drive; and horse ride. I thoroughly enjoy the pace of country life.
I have achieved many things throughout my career, but my most cherished and proudest achievement has been raising my beautiful daughter Jess, who brings me joy every day. Jess has kindly and painstakingly spent hours creating this website for me, which is greatly appreciated!
